Braised Kale with Chiese Roast Pork/燒肉燜西洋芥蘭。

Tonight's dinner is braised kale with roast pork. Kale is a cousin of kai lan, it's leaves are crinklier and it's tougher than kai lan. Just wanted to give kale a try using it to cook a Chinese dish. You need to blanch it a bit longer or cut them in shreds, if you want to cook it with roast pork or else your jaw will have to do more work than usual.

Szechuan Spicy Squid aka Gong Bao You Yu/宮保尤魚

Yesterday evening when my husband walked into the kitchen and saw what I've cooked for dinner. This is what he said, "Wah! Chao you yu ah." Why is the exclamation? 'cos he just came back from finishing his job and need to look for a nice one. Maybe you'll be wondering why, if you're a westerner. As for the Chinese, fried squid literally means 'gotten fired'. If you hear your Chinese friend saying that he just got a plate of fried squid that means he got fired from his job. When I was cooking this dish, the thought didn't come to my mind until heard my husband's exclamation. What a coincident.

Mongolian Lamb Stew/蒙古羊肉锅.

Cooked a pot of Mongolian lamb stew with dried bean curd stick with lots of spices and Chinese herbs. It's good for winter or rainy day. It's one of my family's favorite. You can add green vegetables to it too or eat it as a hot pot with a table top stove and add all the other vegetables that you fancy in it while it is heating on the table top stove.
