Pre Chinese New Year Celebration



This is the pre- Chinese New Year dinner cooked for us by my son who running a modern Chinese restaurant is in Melbourne when we visited him at the beginning of last month.

Seven Coloured Sashimi/七彩鱼生



Yesterday was the 7th day of the Chinese Lunar New Year and it's aka People's Day. So, it's everybody's birthday and this dish is a must on this day. You can order it from every Chinese restaurants, when you are are invited to share the celebration or going to a restaurant for an experience . One must pick up a pair of chopsticks and toss the mixture as high as you can and at the same time yelling out loud, "Lao sang, lao sang yit lao yit sang/ toss higher,toss higher the high the more prosperous we become."

Spicy Canned Tuna and Mixed Black Rice and Mixed Vegetables/辣味罐斗鱼 和 黑米饭 和杂菜。


My Neighbour Totoro and Chibi Totoro

This is what I made for my youngest daughter for Christmas. The big one is called Totoro and the little one is called Chibi Totoro.
